Newborn baby development has been vastly underestimated!

YES, The “amazing talents of the newborn” are finally reaching general public awareness.

It’s good to know the terrible effects of the violation of communication but better to promote all the positive effects of skin to skin, baby gazing, baby walk and talk, feeding relaxation, baby spa and all the baby nurture practices that help new parents communicate with their newborns. Marshall Klaus, Berry Brazelton: pioneering giants. Marie-Claire Busnel: communication starts long before birth!

Baby & Child First Aid Course in Glasgow

I would love to let you know about the upcoming Baby & Child First Aid Course in September. The 2 day workshop really is a no brainer to go to if you have children. Knowing what to do in an emergency is essential and could be lifesaving.

It is recommended that you refresh your skills in First Aid every 3 years as there are always improvements being made in

the treatment advised with ongoing research in the field. Baby n You is holding Paediatric Emergency First Aid Course in partnership with Jamie Walsh of JW Training Solutions who has been delivering First Aid Training for 12 years. Jamie is married with 3 children.

It was after the birth of his daughter that he started to really push for paediatric training as she choked when she was 4 weeks old.  This is one of the many reasons Jamie is passionate about paediatric first aid and will continue to strive to provide this for families. Jamie is knowledgeable and his friendly relaxed manner makes this course great to attend.

The First aid qualification provides emergency training in first aid techniques that are specific to babies, children and teenagers. It is ideal for new parents, grandparents, babysitters and anyone coming in to contact with babies or young children. It really is an essential and invaluable course for anyone caring for babies or children.

Within this course you will learn:

  • CPR for Babies, Toddlers and Children
  • Choking for Babies, Toddlers and Children
  • What is First Aid
  • Recovery Position
  • Bleeds
  • Febrile Convulsions/Seizures
  • Wounds
  • Shock
  • Meningitis
  • Head Injuries
  • Burns & Scalds
  • What is in a First Aid Kit
  • First Aid Hygiene
  • And so much more

We hope you would never have to put any of the skills you will learn in to practice but if you do with this training you will be well equipped to cope with an emergency situation should it occur.

The classes sizes are kept small with a maximum of 15 adults per class to allow everyone the chance to ask questions and make sure you feel you understand everything clearly. It is preferable that babies/children do not attend as it can be distracting but if there is no childcare options it is fine to bring them along.

The  first aid classes are held over 2 consecutive Saturdays at The Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre 64 Balmoral St, G14 0BL. The next course will be Saturday 2nd and 9th September 2017 at 10am-1pm. You must attend both days to receive your qualification.

The course £45 per person for the 6 hour training, certificate and tea/coffee.
